NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC: Guidelines for Kalag-kalag 2023

Visiting a loved one in a cemetery in Davao City? The City Government of Davao has released guidelines for the commemoration of Kalag-kalag this year.

Here are some things to know.

a. Wearing jackets, bringing backpacks, playing loud music or karaoke, gambling, alcoholic drinks, and pointy objects, are strictly prohibited.

b. Staying overnight and bringing pets are strictly prohibited in all cemeteries.

c. Drones are not allowed. Firearms are strictly prohibited except those with COMELEC exemptions.

d. Vagrants, loiterers, and scavengers are denied entry in all cemeteries.

e. Do not leave your things unattended otherwise, they will be subjected to security procedures.

f. The visit period to all cemeteries is from 6:00 AM until 10:00 PM but there will be a cutoff of entry at 9:00 PM.

g. Pedestrians shall observe the "ONE ENTRANCE POLICY” but vehicles shall follow the "ONE ENTRANCE, ONE EXIT POLICY.”

h. Everyone shall apply "CLEAN AS YOU GO." or "BASURA KO, LINIS KO." While obeying the proper waste disposal and garbage collection points determined by the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO).

i. Obey traffic rules, routes, designated parking areas, and vehicle prohibitions based on the Traffic Management Plan as published by the City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO).

j. Wearing facemasks is highly recommended for the elderly, individuals with co-morbidities, immune-compromised, pregnant, unvaccinated, and symptomatic.

k. Medical tents will be set up at the entrance of all cemeteries to respond to any medical emergencies.

l. Public cemeteries under the City Economic Enterprises (CEE) will not schedule any burial, interment, or cremation from October 30 to November 3 this year, except for cases of immediate burials.

m. Comply with all security instructions, rules, and procedures as imposed by the Safety and Security Cluster of Davao City.
